billie tour branding
Billie Eilish as a musician utilizes unique and innovative sounds in all of her songs, this also translates to her visual identity. So, when designing a tour for her new album “Happier Than Ever,” my main goal was to stay away from popular design trends and attempt to create something unique that would match her existing brand as well as set her apart from all other music tours.
I decided to hand-draw all of the main and subheading type. I ended up landing on this very loose, almost messy font that I felt fit well with both the “Lost Cause” brand and Billie. I then decided to create a simple and easily recognizable symbol for the tour and ended up with a sad, dying flower, further emphasizing the meaning behind the song “Lost Cause.”
Because the main heading typography was so loose and unrefined, I wanted to do something similar for the back of the merchandise. Everything I had created for this brand up to this point had been raw and full of emotion, so that lead me to hand-drawing the lyrics to her song “Lost Cause.” I wanted it to look like a page ripped from the notebook she used to write the lyrics to the song, portraying the emotion she felt as she did so.
